Are You Covered?

Under the Affordable Care Act, almost everyone is now required to have health insurance.

If you were not covered with health insurance throughout the year, there may be a tax penalty unless you qualify for an exemption. If you were covered, you have nothing to worry about.

The penalty in 2014 is calculated one of two ways. If you or members of your household don't have insurance that qualifies as minimum essential coverage you'll pay whichever of these amounts is higher:
